Gator's Blog: After The NCAA Tournament
I'm going to guess that right now Tom Izzo and John Beilein are having two very different off seasons. For Izzo, he's probably breathing a sigh of relief that lasts for about ten seconds before he addresses the team's needs and concerns going into next season. For Beilein, he has to feel pretty good about what his team accomplished over the last two months. Michigan went from being one of the worst teams in the Big Ten to nearly knocking off Duke in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament and he has everyone coming back.
But, people will caution UM fans that raised expectations can be a problem, see MSU this past season. I don't think they'll have the same issues that plagued the Spartans, so there is reason to be optimistic in Ann Arbor. In East Lansing, nobody really knows what went wrong; just that it did go wrong, horribly wrong. With the infusion of some new talent and the maturation of the current roster, MSU should be able to rebound nicely next year.
The bottom line is that both programs will see improvement next year; the big question is which program will be better?
