Gas Prices Take A Slight Dive
DETROIT (WWJ) - With Labor Day behind us and fears about military action in Syria easing up a little bit, gas prices have taken a slight dive.
AAA Michigan says prices have dropped 9 cents over the last week. That puts the statewide average at $3.64 per gallon. Overall, the average is down over 30 cents from this time last year.
Following are the average gas prices in metro areas across the state as of Monday morning, according to AAA Michigan:

GasBuddy, however, reports that average retail gasoline prices in Detroit have fallen a bit less, by 6.0 cents per gallon in the past week, and were averaging $3.62/gallon on Sunday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 2.3 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.59/gallon.
"Gas price limbo has continued for another week, with average prices across the United States virtually the same as they were a month ago," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan.
"Opening week for football certainly brought more excitement than we've seen at the gas pump lately, but one thing is for sure - with gas prices averaging 22-cents per gallon lower than last year, there's a lot of extra hot dogs and beer that can be consumed instead of being redirected into the tanks of American motorists. While the situation in Syria bears further monitoring, and hurricane season remains on the radar, we've still seen prices continue to hold level. In fact, the cumulative yearly average for a gallon of gas stands at $3.57/gal, compared to one year ago when it was $3.62/gal, so while motorists feel this has been a bad year for gas prices, it hasn't been as painful as 2012," DeHaan said.
