Gas Prices Down 23 Cents In Past Week

DETROIT (WWJ) - Is the worst over? We usually see gas prices climb as we approach Memorial Day. But this year, prices at the pump are actually falling with the holiday just a week away.

AAA Michigan says gas prices are down 23 cents per gallon over the past week to a statewide average of $3.87. That's the third consecutive weekly decline. But the auto club said prices are still $1.14 higher than a year ago at this time.

Monday, GasBuddy.com reported the best price at $3.54, at the Kroger in Lambertville, Michigan, near the Ohio border. Also, things are looking good in Flint, with prices around $3.60 reported at several service stations.

In Southeast Michigan, it looks like your best bet for a good deal is Westland or Detroit. Visit www.detroitgasprices.com to find the best price near you.

If you're headed Up North, keep in mind highest average prices are being reported in the Marquette area.
