Gas Prices Continue To Rise

DETROIT (AP) - Still no relief from the pain at the pump.

AAA Michigan says gasoline prices are up 1 cent per gallon over the past week to a statewide average of $3.59. The auto club says Monday the statewide average is about 72 cents per gallon higher than last year at this time.

Of the cities it surveys, AAA Michigan says the cheapest price for self-serve regular fuel is in the Traverse City area, where it's $3.57 a gallon. The highest average can be found in the Flint and Grand Rapids areas at $3.63.

Dearborn-based AAA Michigan surveys 2,800 Michigan gas stations daily.

Earlier this month, Gasbuddy.com expert Patrick Dehaan, said that the higher prices don't necessarily indicate a shortage, and that's why we're not seeing long lines just yet.
