Funeral Set For Baby Killed By Pit Bull In Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Funeral services are this week for a 3-week-old girl killed by a pit bull attack in Detroit after her mother put her car seat on the floor of a house.
Maternal grandmother Dawn Ramirez told the Detroit Free Press that a Wednesday funeral is planned for Tarilyn Luciana Bowles. Visitation is Tuesday. Arrangements are being handled by Risko-Ferguson Funeral Home.
Police say the 24-year-old mother entered the house Thursday on the city's west side and placed the car seat with her daughter on the floor.
Police said the told them she didn't know the dog was loose in the home. She walked away and returned to see the animal attacking her daughter.
The infant was taken to a hospital, where she was declared dead.
The dog was euthanized following the attack.
A Detroit police spokesperson said it's still too early to decide if charges will be filed in the case. Public Information Officer Eren Stephens said an investigation continued Monday.
