Funeral Services Today For Local Author Jeffrey Zaslow
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Friends and family will say their final goodbyes Monday afternoon to best-selling author Jeffrey Zaslow, who died in a car accident Friday.
Zaslow, 53, of West Bloomfield was killed when he lost control of his car on a snowy road in northern Michigan. He was heading home after promoting his latest book.
WWJ and Fox 2 Business Editor Murray Feldman remembered Zaslow as a person who always took time for others.
"He would always, if you said something to him, ask you three questions about it because he wanted to know more. And they were always the questions that you would never think would be asked on something because that's what he was good at. That's what he did, that's how he made a living. And that's what people read and enjoyed," says Feldman.
And Feldman says Zaslow wanted to use his own experiences to show others that they have to take time for people.
"You have to take time to say you love your family, you love your kids, you love your wife, and you love your friends. And he said he used to be amazed that so many people never would say those things. And of course that was the premise of a lot of his writing, and a lot of his mission," he says.
Feldman says Zaslow was bigger than life.
"And he helped make other people's lives better by the certain things that he would write, and get thousands of emails with people saying, 'I never realized that - thank you'," says Feldman.
Funeral services will be held at Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield at 1 p.m. Monday. Zaslow is survived by his wife, Fox 2 News Anchor Sherry Margolis, and three daughters.
