Funeral Service Planned For Ex-College QB Finnerty
BRIGHTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A funeral service is planned in Michigan for one of the most successful quarterbacks in college football history.
A Mass for Cullen Finnerty is set for Tuesday at St. Mary Magdalen Parish in Livingston County's Brighton Township. Interment will follow at St. Hedwig Cemetery in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn Heights.
The 30-year-old Finnerty won more than 50 games and three national championships at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich., the last in 2006. His body was discovered May 28 in woods in western Michigan after he disappeared during a family trip to a cottage.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cullen Finnerty Memorial Trust Fund are suggested by his family.
Finnerty was a star at Brighton High School, about 35 miles northwest of Detroit.
