Fundraiser For Slain Officer's Family
HIGHLAND (WWJ) A fundraiser will be held Saturday for the family of Livonia Police officer Larry Nehasil, who was killed in an exchange of gunfire with a burglary suspect in Walled Lake last month.
Family spokesman Rick Daguanno says the fundraiser is a pasta and salad buffet with entertainment and a silent auction, beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday. It's being held at 59 West on M-59 in Highland.
"I know his wife and his kids , through people I've talked with, obviously it's very difficult for them in this time , but they're very appreciative of all the support they're getting throughout the community," Daguanno said.
Daguanno says it's $15 dollars for adults and $10 dollars for children.
"We're just hoping to raise as as much money as we can . People of southeast Michigan , I'm sure as you know, are some of the most kindest people in terms of charitable donations," Daguanno said.
Officer Nehasil was killed in an exchange of gunfire with a burglary suspect outside a home in Walled Lake. The suspect, David Bowling, was killed as well, but his brother, Terry Bowling, has been charged in the murder.
