Fugitive Wanted On Rape Charges Arrested In Tennessee
LANSING (WWJ/AP) - A Michigan man wanted on rape charges in his home state has been arrested by U.S. Marshals in Tennessee after eluding police in Kentucky.
Federal officers had been looking for 48-year-old Bryan Preston Farmer in southeastern Kentucky for more than a week. He is wanted in Lansing for charges of rape, first degree sexual misconduct, unlawful imprisonment and assault with a dangerous weapon, in the alleged rape of a 41-year-old developmentally disabled woman.
Harlan Police Sgt. Mike Boggs said Farmer has relatives in Harlan County and was in the county on Tuesday when he was chased by police, but he escaped, The Harlan Daily Enterprise reported.
Boggs said police in Harlan were called Thursday afternoon and told that Farmer had been caught in Knoxville.
According to the Michigan Department of Corrections Offender Tracking Information System, Farmer was convicted in March 1992 for criminal sexual conduct, assault with intent to commit sex penetration and first-degree criminal sexual conduct (person under 13). He is listed as a lifetime registered sex offender.
