Friends And Family Gather At Home Of Missing Girl
DETROIT (WWJ) -Detroit Police issued an Amber Alert for Mariha Smith after the little girl was reported missing at a west-side home on Burlingame, near Dexter and West Chicago on Sunday.
Friends and family have been gathering at the home of Mariah Smith's aunt, waiting for some news on the little girl. A friend of the family Gary Boone has been passing out flyers with Mariah's picture on them.
Boone told WWJ's Beth Fisher that he is feeling both hurt and sad, "Nobody should be abducting kids ..."
Mariha's surrogate granddad, Michael Williams, who says he's going through a lot of heartache since police found the body of a young person in a burned out home just a few blocks away.
"There's a lot of heartache ... Mariha would always go to work with me, she'd want to ride with me, she knew I was going to give her a dollar ... she goes into the store and thinks she can buy everything in there ... it just hurts so bad," said Williams holding back tears.
Williams said he saw Mariha last a few days ago.
Friends and family aren's giving up hope though, flyers are being passed out with Mariha Smith's picture on the paper and police continue to investigate.
