Freedom Hill Set To Re-Open In June 2013
STERLING HEIGHTS – Freedom Hill Amphitheatre, an outdoor entertainment venue, which has been closed since 2009, is set to open to the public on June 1, 2013.
The 7,200-person capacity venue (4,200 seats and 3,000 lawn spaces), will receive at least $2 million in upgrades prior to the opening including technology, cosmetic improvements and an overall enhanced customer service experience.
"It's rewarding to see a valuable community resource like Freedom Hill Amphitheatre being put back into public use," said Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel.
"We see the return of Freedom Hill to be a win for everyone. The public will have greater access to national entertainment opportunities, and local businesses will benefit from more customers coming to the area."
Freedom Hill Amphitheatre is located on Metro Parkway near Schoenherr in Sterling Heights.
Among the first big events at the new venue will be a June 13, 2013 concert by Grammy Award-winning country music trio Lady Antebellum.
Approximately 30-40 events and appearances from June through September 2013 are currently being booked including the annual Macomb County Stars & Stripes Festival, which will also be hosted by Freedom Hill for the first time from June 28 - 30, 2013.
