Former UM-D Student In Center Of Historical Egyptian Event
DETROIT (WWJ) - The celebrations continue in Cairo, as Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak leaves offices.
Jeneen Ezzat is a former University of Michigan-Dearborn student, now living and working in Cairo. Speaking live from Egypt on WWJ, Ezzat says implications of the historic event haven't sunk in yet: "I'm not surprised in terms at the use of Facebook and Twitter, because people in Egypt, contrary to what, stereotypical assumptions may be are quite active in social media," Ezzat says.
She says people are still hanging around Tahrir Square, just to be part of history.
Ezzat acknowledges that few have absorbed what has transpired, partially because it happened at such a rapid pace.
