Former Southgate Cop Charged In Sexual Assault
SOUTHGATE (WWJ/AP) - A former Downriver police officer has been charged in the sexual assault of a 41-year-old woman after responding to a domestic violence call in Southgate.
Prosecutors say 42-year-old Emmanuel Paravas picked up the woman and drove her to a hotel on Northline Road in Southgate, in the early morning hours of February 9. Investigators say the officer then returned at 3 a.m., the same day, and sexually assaulted the woman in her hotel room.
Paravas is charged with criminal sexual conduct, misconduct in office and neglect of duty.
He resigned from the force and is expected to be arraigned on charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct on Wednesday at 11 a.m.. in 28th District Court in Southgate.
