Former President Clinton Rallies Flint Crowd To Get Out The Vote
FLINT (WWJ) - President Bill Clinton paid a visit to Flint --urging Michigan voters to cast their ballots in next month's midterm elections.
It was standing room only at the Banquet Center in downtown Flint to see the former commander-in-chief reports WWJ's Stephanie Davis.
Mr. Clinton touched on all the familiar Democratic themes; education, minimum wage, equal pay and health care. But of all, Clinton did exactly as expected, getting the crowd fired up to vote.
"You are going to pass 100 people -- every single one of you -- in the next 13 days, will you ask them to vote," Clinton asked the crowd as a resounding 'yes' fill the room.
"Will you tell them why they should vote?" asked Clinton.
"Will you tell them they should vote for Gary Peters and Mark Schauer?"
"We Democrats have undertaken a great experiment taking different forms in different states to see if we can make this mid-term election look more like the presidential election. And by the way, it would be good for our Republican friends too, because we don't need a one-party country."
"When Bill Clinton was in office," said Violet LaGuardie of Flint, "everybody made money - so people believe in him. I work for GM - I make more money than I ever made in my life."
