Former Gov. Granholm To Speak, Sign Books In Livonia
LIVONIA (WWJ) - Former Governor Jennifer Granholm is back in Michigan this weekend, signing copies of her new book, "A Governor's Story," at Laurel Park Place Mall in Livonia.
WWJ's Greg Bowman got a chance to talk with Granholm about her take on the current state of Michigan. With the state's economy showing signs of recovery recently, the former governor said she's optimistic about Michigan's future.
"I am, if we continue to have partnership between the public and private sectors, meaning if the government continues to reach a hand out to the businesses that we know Michigan can be competitive in to make sure they've got a good business chance, and if we continue to invest in the talent and the workers that those businesses would want to hire," said Granholm.
"But we can't continue to just cut and cut and cut, if that cutting cuts into the things that really set us up for success, which is having a talented workforce."
Granholm's future plans include hosting a political talk show called "The War Room" on Current TV, starting in January. But, she said she has no desire to run for public office again.
"I've served for 12 years, and I'll always serve in some way, but I think I'm done with elected politics," said Granholm.
As part of the Michigan International Books Festival, Granholm and her husband will be speaking about their writings, answering questions from audience members and signing copies of their book from noon until 1:30 p.m. at Laurel Park Place Mall, 37700 W. 6 Mile Rd. in Livonia.
