DETROIT (AP) — Former Philadelphia Flyers star Bill Barber is happy to have company in the NHL record book.
The Detroit Red Wings have won 20 straight home games, equaling the league's single-season mark the Boston Bruins set during the 1929-30 season and Barber helped the Flyers match in 1976.
Barber says Detroit's feat is great for the league because it is good for the game of hockey.
The NHL-leading Red Wings will have the record alone if they beat the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night at Joe Louis Arena.
Captain Nicklas Lidstrom says he can't recall the last time Detroit lost at home. That setback was so long ago it's easy to forget: Calgary beat the Red Wings 4-1 on Nov. 3, 2011, to cap Detroit's six-game losing streak.
