Former First Ladies In Michigan Today For Daylong Conference
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - Barbara and Laura Bush will be in Michigan today. The two former first ladies have agreed to appear at a daylong conference in Grand Rapids focusing on first ladies and their roles in the White House.
As part of the "America's First Ladies: An Enduring Legacy" event, the 100th birthday of the late former President Gerald Ford and the 95th birthday of the late first lady Betty Ford will be celebrated.
In a statement, the Fords' daughter, Susan Ford Bales, says the family is "thrilled that our dear friends Barbara and Laura Bush will celebrate Dad and Mom's remarkable legacies with us."
The event is being hosted by the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation and the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum.
