Former Brighton Lawyer Sentenced In Drug Case
A former Brighton lawyer has been sentenced to three years of probation in a drug case involving the death of a 22-year-old woman.
Ronald Plunkett was sentenced Monday in Ann Arbor after earlier pleading guilty to delivering less than 50 grams of cocaine and maintaining a drug house. Under a plea deal, he could have faced up to 23 months in prison. Plunkett told the court he can't change what he did, only what he does now.
The prosecutor's office agreed to dismiss charges of delivery of heroin causing death, which is punishable by up to life in prison. Plunkett was charged in the June 16, 2006, death of Tiffany Gregory.
Plunkett had challenged a state law holding a drug supplier responsible if someone dies as a result of drugs.
