Former Aide And Ex-Lover Of Kilpatrick Not On Witness List
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - A lawyer for a former aide and ex-lover of Kwame Kilpatrick says his client won't testify at the ex-Detroit mayor's kickback and corruption trial. Christine Beatty is not on the witness lists for the defense, and prosecutors aren't calling her either.
The 42-year-old Beatty was a recurring figure in testimony last week in the federal corruption case against Kilpatrick, his father Bernard, contractor Bobby Ferguson and ex-Detroit water chief Victor Mercado.
Kilpatrick faces tax, conspiracy, fraud, extortion and bribery charges.
The trial resumes Tuesday.
