Ford CEO Says More Jobs Coming To U.S.
DEARBORN (WWJ) - Ford's CEO reiterating a pledge made earlier this year that the automaker plans to add thousands more new jobs over the next two years.
Alan Mulally, encouraged by signs of economic growth following the worst recession since the Great Depression, says 7000 U.S. jobs will be added over the next two years. He made the comments while speaking at a Ford plant in Thailand on Thursday. Ford's market share bumped up by a tenth of a percentage point over the past year to 16.8 percent, according to researcher Autodata Corp.
Mulally says there's still substantial expansion in the Asia-Pacific region. And, he wants to increase their presence in the fast-growing Asian market and expand global sales by 50 percent by 2015.
Mulally originally announced the jobs at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January.
