Football Team Going Pink
The state champion Lowell High football team again is instituting a one-day color-scheme switch for its first home game of the season.
The Red Arrows will become the Pink Arrows for Friday night's contest against Grand Rapids Kenowa Hills.
It's the third year the southwestern Michigan football powerhouse is hosting a Pink Arrow Pride game. Proceeds go to cancer support, education and awareness programs.
Pink will be everywhere, from the players' jerseys and the arrows that adorn their helmets to parts of the stadium and playing surface.
Coach Noel Dean says he expects to have raised three-quarters of a million dollars over the three years when all is said and done.
He calls it the ``most enlightening thing I've ever been involved in.''
