Flooding Closes Lodge Ramp To Davison In Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - Police were forced to close the ramp from southbound Lodge Freeway, M-10, to eastbound Davison Friday after rain overnight left the freeways too flooded for vehicles to safely drive through.
Before police closed the Davison ramp, several drivers reported hydroplaning and many said they had difficulty controlling their vehicles on the area.
WWJ Traffic Reporter John Bailey said the rain, coupled with snowmelt runoff, is causing several areas of standing water on metro Detroit roadways. In some areas the water is icing over, causing dangerously slippery roads with patches of black ice. Several spin-out accidents have been reported.
Tipsters calling the WWJ Newsroom said they drove through several icy areas on the Southfield Freeway, M-39, between Dearborn and Southfield.
The icy conditions are also affecting driving conditions on surface streets, resulting in several school closings in the tri-county area.
