Flood Watch In Effect For Southeast Michigan
DETROIT (WWJ) - It's getting wet across metro Detroit, so much so that the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the region.
The flood watch is in effect from 2 p.m. Wednesday through Friday morning.
Forecasters say several rounds of heavy rainfall will result in about two to four inches of rain through Thursday night. This can cause flooding in areas of low land and areas near streams or rivers.
Accuweather Meteorologist Dave Bowers said metro Detroit will likely see some thunder and lighting as well.
"It's a nice line of thunderstorms, which is rapidly moving east," Bowers said, Wednesday afternoon. "This line runs just east of Lapeer, down through just west of Waterford to Whitmore Lake, and then continues southwest from there, down to about Hillsdale. So, just about everbody's going to see this line here."
Residents who live in areas prone to flooding are advised to monitor the forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings.

Wednesday -- Overcast with thunderstorms and rain in the afternoon. Winds from the NE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 90% with rainfall amounts near 0.9 in. possible. High of 50F. Low of 41F.
Thursday -- Overcast with rain. Breezy. Chance of rain 90% with rainfall amounts near 0.3 in. possible. Fog overnight. Chance of snow 70% with accumulations up to 1 in. possible. High of 43F. Low of 34F.
Friday -- Overcast and breezy. Winds from the WSW at 10 to 20 mph. High of 48F. Low of 32F.
