Flood Advisory In Some Local Areas
DETROIT (WWJ) - The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory Wednesday for much of the metro Detroit area.
The advisory, in effect until 6 p.m., includes northeastern Wayne County, Southeastern Oakland County and Southwestern Macomb County.
WWJ AccuWeather Meteorologist Dave Samuels said the downpours have been unrelenting.
"'This rain just does not wanna quit,"said WWJ AccuWeather Meteorologist Dave Samuels, "so it looks like we might be dealing with the rain for much of the afternoon now, likely resulting in a couple inches of rain for some people out there...Pretty crazy day."
Locations hardest-hit include downtown Detroit, Grosse Pointe, St. Clair Shores, Warren and Southfield.
Samuels said flooding is expected mostly in low-lying, poor drainage areas that typically flood under a couple of inches of rain.
"So, shouldn't be anything life-threatening, but obviously you don't wanna drive through any flooded roadways you see out there," he said.
Samuels said the rain seemed to be weakening in intensity as it moved south into Wednesday afternoon. He said the system should move through by tonight ahead of a dry, sunny Thursday and a generally pleasant end to the week.
