FLO RIDA To Perform At Halftime Of Pistons Vs. Celtics On February 19
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The Detroit Pistons announced today that internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter, rapper and producer Flo Rida (pronounced Flow Ride-a) will perform during halftime when the Detroit Pistons host Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and the Boston Celtics on Sunday, February 19 at The Palace of Auburn Hills (6:00 p.m.).
Flo Rida's appearance at The Palace comes on the heels of his single "Good Feeling" currently sitting at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. The hit samples "Levels" by Avicii, which samples the late Etta James' "Something's Got a Hold on Me". Following James' death on January 20, 2012, Flo Rida dedicated the song in her memory. "Good Feeling" has also topped the charts in Austria, Germany, Scotland and the UK.
His debut single "Low", featuring T-Pain, reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in early 2008 and served as the soundtrack to the movie Step Up 2: The Streets. He released his debut album Mail on Sunday in March of 2008 which included other hits such as "In the Ayer", featuring Will I Am, and "Elevator", featuring Timbaland. Flo Rida also made the rounds that summer including live performances on Fox's, So You Think You Can Dance and at the 2008 MuchMusic Video Awards in Canada.
In January, 2009, Flo Rida released the hit single "Right Round" from his second album, R.O.O.T.S. The song featured recording star Ke$ha and broke a record for the most digital one week sales in the U.S., with 636,000, beating the previous record set by himself with "Low". "Right Round" also reached the top of the Hot 100 charts where it stood for six weeks. Flo Rida has since released his third album, Only One Flo, in 2010 and is currently working on its sequel, Only One Flo (Part 2).
A native of Carol City, FL., Flo Rida's work has garnered numerous industry recognition including two Grammy Award nominations in 2009 for "Low" (Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration) and one in 2010 for R.O.O.T.S in the Best Rap Album category. "Low" was a winner at the 2009 People's Choice Awards for Favorite Hip-Hop Song and he's also received nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards, BET Awards, Teen Choice Awards and the American Music Awards.
