Flint Man Sentenced In Pizza Delivery Man's Slaying
FLINT (WWJ/AP) - A 19-year-old Flint man will spend the next 18 to 27 years in prison for the 2010 shooting death of a pizza delivery man.
Antonio Clark was sentenced Monday in Genesee County Circuit Court charges of second-degree murder and felony firearm. Clark pleaded guilty to the charges in February.
Clark was one of four teens charged nearly three years ago as adults in the robbery and slaying of 33-year-old Michael Nettles.
Police say Nettles, a father of three, was robbed and killed around 9 p.m. April 7, 2010 while delivering a pizza to a home near the corner of Sonny Avenue and Sterling Street. Clark allegedly supplied the weapon that killed Nettles.
In court on Monday, Clark said he was sorry for the incident, but maintained he was not the killer.
"I can't take it back," he said, fighting back tears. "If I could I would. To the family, I want to express my deepest sympathies."
Clark is the third person to have been convicted or pleaded guilty in the case. Juwan Wickware was found guilty of felony murder and armed robbery. His sentencing is scheduled for July 8.
Quantageah Penegar pleaded guilty two years ago to armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery and agreed to testify against her co-defendants. She is serving up to 28 years, four months in prison.
Jurors found another defendant, Donqua Williams, not guilty.
