Flight Attendant Allegedly Started Fire On Plane During Flight From Dallas To Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - The FBI says a flight attendant has been arrested and charged after allegedly setting a fire in a bathroom during a flight from Dallas to Detroit in early February.
Johnathan Tafoya-Montano was working as a flight attendant on an American Airlines flight and reported a fire in a rear bathroom of the plane and extinguished the flames.
The flight made an emergency landing at Detroit Metropolitan Airport without incident on Feb. 1.
The FBI says that Tafoya-Montano set the fire himself and has reportedly admitted to doing so.
He's been charged on two counts including destruction of an aircraft and has been prohibited from flying without permission from the court.
