Flags To Be Lowered For Macomb County Soldier
Gov. Jennifer Granholm is ordering U.S. flags in Michigan to be flown at half-staff Wednesday in honor of Army Specialist Shane Ahmed of Chesterfield Township, who was killed in Afghanistan.
The 31-year-old died Nov. 14 when insurgents attacked his unit with small arms fire. Four of his comrades also were killed.
Ahmed was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Ky.
A burial service for Ahmed is scheduled for Wednesday at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta.
