CBS DETROIT - Five-star guard Tyus Battle has committed to play basketball at Michigan, the player announced on his Twitter page Monday.
247Sports ranks the 6-foot-6, 205-pound Battle as the 12th-best prospect in the country, and according to that site, Battle drew interest from Duke, Louisville, Syracuse and other programs before deciding on Michigan.
The Wolverines have generally enjoyed success under head coach John Beilein, but last season the team failed to make the NCAA tournament. Only two years earlier, however, Michigan played in the national championship game.
Wolverines star Caris LeVert, a 6-foot-7, 200-pound guard who missed much of the 2014-2015 season with injury, will be a senior in the upcoming season, so his departure will coincide with the arrival of Battle, meaning Battle could have an opportunity to establish himself early in his career with the Wolverines.
