First Responders On The Scene Of DTE Plant Fire In St. Clair County
ST. CLAIR COUNTY (WWJ) - First responders are on the scene of a fire at one of two DTE plants in East China Township Thursday evening.
DTE states that a generation unit at the St. Clair Power Plant caught fire.
The plant was evacuated and DTE's statement says there are no injuries and The Port Huron Times Herald reports that no one is missing from inside the plant.
Jeremiah Becker lives nearby and described the scene to WWJ.
"There was a giant black cloud in the sky, my wife and I were driving down to St. Clair for a date, and noticed the cloud, and we drove over there. At first we thought that there might be something going on the Canada side because earlier in the day they reported an ammonia leak," said Becker.
There are some power outages nearby.... and the situation was still a very active scene late into the night.
