Fire Rips Through Trio Of Abandoned Homes On Detroit's East Side
DETROIT (WWJ) - Firefighters have their hands full on Detroit's east side, where a fast-moving fire has spread to three vacant homes.
The fire started early Wednesday morning at a home on the corner of Agnes and Canton streets, not far from Grand Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue near the Belle Isle Bridge.
The fire completely destroyed the first home, and spread to neighboring homes on both of its sides. Firefighters were able to stop the blaze from consuming the house to the right, but the flames moved far too quickly through the house on the left.
When WWJ arrived at the scene just before 6 a.m., the house on the left was completely engulfed in flames. Firefighters said there's nothing they can do but "just let the fire burn." Their main objective now is keeping the flames from spreading any further.
It doesn't appear that anyone was injured in the fire.
Officials say it's too early to determine a cause of the fire, which remains under investigation.
