Fire In Upscale Bloomfield Hills Neighborhood
BLOOMFIELD HILLS (WWJ) - No one was hurt, but a Bloomfield Hills home suffered quite a bit damage as a fire swept through, Thursday morning.
The 10,000 square foot luxury home is located atop a hill, in a secluded area of Bloomfield Hills.
Three departments responded to the fire in the 1700-block of Hillwood Drive near Kensington and East Long Lake Roads.
Bloomfield Hills Public Safety Lieutenant Knowle Clayson who told WWJ that the alarm came in around 6 a.m. and firefighters responded to find the structure fully involved with flames coming from the garage area.
"There are some rooms that the fire didn't get to. But the roof has caved in over the garage and over the main living area," Clayson told WWJ's Ron Dewey.
Next door neighbor Bruce Buddy said he couldn't see the fire, but the commotion didn't go unnoticed.
"I just heard a loud siren coming up here. And my wife looked out the window, a little later, and saw all the action," he said.
Everyone inside escaped without injury.
Investigators said the fire appears to have started in the garage, but the fire's cause remains under investigation.
