Fire Breaks Out At Liquor Land In Eastpointe
EASTPOINTE (WWJ) - Police are investigating after a two-alarm fire broke out at a Macomb County liquor store Friday morning.
WWJ's Mike Campbell reports the fire happened at Liquor Land 9 Mile Road, between I-94 and Gratiot.
Eastpointe Fire Captain Jeff Shier said crews responded quickly to the blaze, but not before the flames tore through its interior, leaving the building completely gutted.
"We had to force entry in the front and back door. We were able to get hose lines in and knock the fire down. We sent some crews up to the roof to pull some roof back to make sure the fire wasn't in between the roof joints and the ceiling," he said.
An employee at a neighboring fast food restaurant told WWJ Newsradio 950 that their supervisor and police asked them not to speak to the media about the fire.
A cause of the fire wasn't immediately determined. No injuries were reported. An investigation is ongoing.
