Fire At Sterling Heights Auto Supply Plant
STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Sterling Heights firefighters battled a blaze Tuesday morning inside an AZ Automotive Corp. plant.
The building, at Merrill Road between Mound and Van Dyke, south of 19 Mile Road, was evacuated and employees were sent home.
The Sterling Heights fire chief said a hazardous materials teams was sent to the scene because of what could be inside the plant. AZ Automotive reportedly does welding and metallurgy.
Nothing hazardous was found and the fire was under control by around 1 p.m. Firefighters from Utica, Warren and Shelby Township assisted.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
