Fire At Apartment In Harrison Township Injures At Least 5 People
MACOMB COUNTY (WWJ) - Harrison Township firefighters have contained a blaze at an apartment building near I-94 and Shook Road.
Twelve units were destroyed by the fire at Brittany Park Apartments, which authorities believe started in a kitchen of one of the residents early Monday morning.
One person was being treated at the scene, but the severity of injury is unclear at this point.
"We had a gentleman who was cooking some food and it got out of control, said Battalion Chief Mark Hausman.
Five people suffered injuries including Cameron whose girlfriend Hannah was called to help out: "He just called me at 4 a.m. and said the building was on fire and he ran out with the cat with no shoes and socks - so we are going to the hospital right now to check him out for frostbite."
About 20 people were displaced by the fire.
