Final Day Of Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign: Donate To Make A Difference

DETROIT (WWJ) - Thursday is the final day of the Salvation Army's Red Kettle campaign.

Bell ringers will be out in front of select Emagine Theaters and Kroger stores on New Year's Eve in the last push for donations. The organization still needs about $3 million to reach its red kettle goal of $8.7 million.

Although the red kettles will be disappearing from storefronts, donations will be collected through Jan. 31, the campaign's official end date.

"“Our red kettle goal is within our reach,”" Major Russell Sjögren, Metro Detroit Area Commander of the Salvation Army, said in a statement. "“We are grateful to the community for being so generous this season, but we are hoping people can find a way to dig just a little deeper to help us achieve our goal and ensure we can maintain all of our programs and services in the coming year.”"
