Fielder, Cabrera See No Problems With Tigers' Offense
1B Prince Fielder followed a two-run shot by 3B Miguel Cabrera with a home run that hit off the top of wall in left-center to cap a five-run fifth inning Wednesday night at Boston. However, Detroit received a scare after he doubled in the fourth. A pickoff attempt hit him flush on the right side of the head as he was diving back to second. He laid on the ground for a few moments as trainer Kevin Rand raced out to check on his condition. Fielder remained in the game. "I'm a little dizzy, but I'm all right," Fielder said afterward.
He reacted a little to criticism of the Tigers' slumping offense. "We're in the middle of the lineup, our job is to produce and drive in runs," said. "I think we're in the top 10 in runs scored per game. We're just going to keep doing what we're doing."
--3B Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run home run to left field at Fenway Park on Wednesday night that landed in the parking lot behind the wall. It boosted his RBI total to 87. Cabrera bristled at the flack the Detroit offense has been taking lately. "We're one of the top teams hitting in the American League," he said. "I don't know what people say about our hitting. I don't know exactly what we've got to do. We need to win some more games, and that's it."
