Ferris State University Professor Killed In Overseas Bus Crash
BIG RAPIDS (WWJ/AP) - A Ferris State University pharmacy professor has been killed in an overseas bus crash.
The Big Rapids school says in a statement it's "deeply saddened" by the death of Lucy Ngoh, who died after being hurt in a Dec. 30 bus accident in the West African nation of Cameroon.
"Lucy's influence in the college and academic pharmacy will never be replaced; she was a unique individual who provided us with perspectives that we all too often overlook," College of Pharmacy Dean Stephen Durst said in a statement. "She will indeed be missed by many. This is a significant loss in our lives."
Ngoh was visiting relatives in her native country in West Central Africa during the university's holiday break at the time of the accident.
Ngoh joined Ferris' College of Pharmacy in 1992, was a pharmacist and a certified health education specialist.
She earned a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Texas, a master's degree in health administration from Tulane University and a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from the University of Washington.
A memorial service is pending. The Ferris flag was flown at half-staff in Ngoh's honor on Thursday.
