Ferris State Advances To The NCAA Hockey Finals
TAMPA (WWJ) - The Ferris State Bulldogs beat No. 3 Union 3-1 to advance to the NCAA Division I hockey final game on Saturday against Boston College.
"You better pinch yourself because you're not dreaming, Ferris State will represent the state of Michigan in the national championship game on Saturday," was the final call of the game.
Kyle Bonis scored on a rebound shot to break a 1-1 tie for the Bulldogs. An empty-net goal with under a minute to play in the third period put the game out of reach for the Union.
Union got on the board first after a scoreless first period. The Bulldogs tied and went ahead before Union pulled their goalie - and Aaron Schmit put in a an empty-netter for Ferris State and earlier a power play goal.
It was a Frozen Four debut for both teams - and now Ferris State will take on Boston College, who beat Minnesota to advance on Saturday.
