Ferrell And Hart Are Hilarious In Buddy Comedy "Get Hard"

DETROIT (WWJ) - "Get Hard." What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear those two words? Actor/comedian Will Ferrell knows. He stars in the film of that name alongside fellow funnyman Kevin Hart. In fact, he knows the answer to that question all too well. But, if you ask the co-stars, they'll tell you it's actually a buddy comedy.

"James becomes a friend of Darnell and kind of helps him with financial advice, while Darnell's helping James with just common sense and kind of giving him the skills just to cope with everyday, the real world," says Ferrell.

"It's a journey of two men who have no like or understanding of each other on either side of the world, and we get brought to a position where we're forced to understand and relate," Hart adds.

The two are brought together under unusual circumstances. Ferrell stars as James, a millionaire hedge fund manager, while Hart stars as Darnell, whom James mistakenly believes is an ex-con.

With James headed off to San Quentin where he's been sentenced to spend time for fraud, he decides to hire Darnell to help him prepare for his life behind bars. Darnell puts James through a series of tests, but with no real experience of his own to draw from, James is anything but ready to head to the slammer.

Ferrell and Hart are simply hilarious in this film. And with that long list of training exercises that Darnell puts James through, there is plenty of fertile material for them to work with.

Joining Ferrell and Hart is rapper/actor T.I., who stars as Darnell's thuggish cousin, Russell, a gang member who heads up the Crenshaw Kings. He plays that role to a "T." Multiple Grammy Award winner John Mayer stars as himself, performing during a fancy engagement party, and Craig T. Nelson stars as Martin, James' boss.

In addition to being funny, "Get Hard" delivers a message – several in fact – one of which is, simply put, to not judge a book by its cover.
