Ferndale Police Nab Burglar Caught On Roof
FERNDALE (WWJ) - He was up on the rooftop and he had a large bag, but he was not Santa Claus.
Ferndale police Detective Lt. William Wilson said they received a call from a neighbor just after midnight Wednesday.
When police arrived at Ken's Market on Livernois near Felding, they looked up and saw a man on the roof.
Wilson told WWJ Newsradio 950 the suspect, Robert Reeves, jumped, ran and was then tackled by police. Following arrest, police searched the roof and found a large duffel bag, a flashlight, a crow bar and other tools.
"And he had managed to cut a hole through the roof and it appeared that he as about to make entry into the building and he got caught just before he got in," Wilson said.
Wilson reminds people to keep their eye open and ears open for anything out of the ordinary this holiday season and all year long.
"Be vigilant and call the police whenever they have any suspicions," he said. "Like, in this incidence, had somebody decided to ignore the noise or not call the police them this person might have gotten away with burglarizing the building."
Reeves was expected to be arraigned Thursday on burglary charges.
