Ferndale Man Dies After Motorcycle Crash
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ)- A Ferndale man, participating in a charity event, was killed after his motorcycle flipped over Saturday afternoon in Lapeer County.
The Lapeer County Sheriff's Department says 65-year old Leland Kinder was at a charity event with about 20 other motorcyclists when for an unknown reason his Harley Davidson went onto the shoulder of Imlay City Road and hit a curb. The motorcycle then went into a field and flipped over.
Kinder was thrown from the bike and died at Lapeer Regional Medical Center. Investigators say he was wearing a helmet.
The crash remains under investigation. A statement from the sheriff's department says it doesn't appear that alcohol or excessive speed were factors in the crash.
