Most Oppose Expanding CCW Law
DETROIT (WWJ) - How do you feel about the prospect of people in Michigan being allowed to carry concealed weapons into sanctuaries like churches and schools?
If you're like two-thirds of respondents to a new survey, you don't like it at all.
According to an EPIC/MRA survey, 68 percent oppose legislation that would allow those with CCW permits to carry handguns in places like schools, churches, sports arenas and day care centers.
Only 29 percent of the 600 likely voters surveyed favor such a measure. Democrats are 85 percent opposed, and even
Republicans reject it, 56 to 40 percent.
Current state law prohibits people from carrying handguns into places or worship, educational institutions, hospitals, courtrooms, or sports and entertainment facilities.
