Feds Charge Couple, Son In Detroit Illegal Lottery
Hold the onions - and here are my numbers. Authorities unsealed a criminal complaint Wednesday against a Detroit couple in their 70s who are charged with running an illegal lottery based on legitimate lottery numbers.
An informant told the FBI that the business has been run for decades out of various Detroit-area coney island restaurants, storefronts and homes. About $300,000 was seized in 2007.
Herbert Lee Daniels Sr. and his wife, Willie Mae Truvillion, were charged, along with Daniels' son, Myron Daniels. A message seeking comment was left with their lawyer.
The FBI said documents and fax machines have been seized, along with charts listing Michigan lottery numbers. Charts show a nickel bet could pay as much as $250.
