Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke Coming To U of M

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WWJ) - The man many people credit with putting the term "fiscal cliff" into our lexicon is coming to the University of Michigan.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is scheduled to speak and answer audience and online questions at an event on Monday, January 14, at Rackham Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

At a hearing last February, Bernanke first described the series of year-end spending cuts and tax hikes as "a massive fiscal cliff." That cliff has been delayed until next month.

Joining Bernanke on the dais will be Ford School of Public Policy Dean Susan Collins. The two will discuss monetary policy, recovery from the global financial crisis and long-term challenges facing the American economy.
