FBI Recovers Chicago Kidnapping Victim's Car In Michigan, No Sign Of Suspect
CHICAGO (WWJ/AP) - Authorities recovered the car of a kidnapped, Chicago-area woman in Holland, Michigan -- but have found no signs of the suspect and say he could still be in the area.
The FBI says the man assaulted a 53-year-old woman around midnight Friday in her home in Lansing, Illinois and then used her car to drive the woman over the state line into Munster, Indiana.
The FBI says law enforcement officers eventually found the woman alone in Burns Harbor, Indiana, where the suspect's image was captured on an ATM surveillance camera. She's expected to be OK.
The victim's car was later found abandoned in Holland, Michigan and authorities believe the suspect could still be in the state.
The suspect is described as black, heavyset and wearing a white T-shirt. The surveillance camera images show him wearing gloves and a nylon stocking pulled over his head.
The FBI is asking anyone who recognizes the individual to contact them at 312-421-6700 or dial 911.
