FBI Pays Visit To Ex-Highland Park School Board Member
HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ) - Witnesses are calling it a raid, but former Highland Park School Board member Robert Davis says it was a just a visit from FBI agents at his home.
"There was no raid at my home. My political enemies, including Art Blackwell, have requested that I be investigated... and they came to ask me a few questions," Davis told WWJ's Vickie Thomas.
However, witnesses said it was clearly a raid, with seven to eight FBI vehicles were converging on Eason Street. FBI agents left the home carrying boxes.
Sources told WWJ the investigation is about a check that Davis wrote after leaving the school board.
But he Davis believes that's highly unlikely, adding that the FBI's visit was unexpected, but he's not worried.
"Because when you do things above-board and do things correctly, you have nothing to worry about," he said.
Davis didn't say what the FBI wanted to talk to him about.
Blackwell, who formerly served as Emergency Financial Manager for Highland Park, told WWJ he never mentioned Davis to the FBI.
