FBI Offers $2,500 Reward For Tip To Capture Troy Bank Robber
TROY (WWJ) - The FBI has put up a $2,500 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of an Oakland County bank robber.
The suspect held up a TCF Bank branch, on Coolidge near Maple in Troy, Thursday morning — getting away on foot with a black plastic bag full of cash.
Troy Police Captain Bob Redmond police got to the bank within a minute, but it was a minute too late to catch the robber; and an immediate helicopter search of the area turned up no sign of him.
Was he armed?
"He implied that he had a weapon in his pocket, but we don't know for sure," Redmond said. "So I would always assume that it is true... err on the side of caution."
Troy police are working with the FBI and Oakland County gangs and violent crimes task force in trying to find the robber.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 35-50 years old, 5 feet, 9 inches to 6 feet, 2 inches tall and 180 to 210 lbs. The suspect has short, sandy brown hair and a light skin complexion. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black Carhartt jacket over a black hooded sweatshirt with stonewashed denim jeans and brown shoes.
Police released a surveillance photo of the suspect on Friday.
