FBI Looking For Suspect With Ties To Michigan
DETROIT (WWJ) - A man with ties to Michigan is wanted by the FBI for his alleged participation in a credit card fraud scheme.
Twenty-eight year-old Luis Colon Jr. is accused of purchasing large quantities of pesticides using stolen credit and debit cards between 2009 and 2010.
The scheme involved purchasing pesticides on the Internet or over the phone from companies located in Georgia, Texas, and elsewhere, and shipping them to addresses in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for resale at a store in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Colon would approach homeowners under the guise of working for a utility company and convince people to give him their credit or debit card information to set up automatic billing.
There is not believed to be a connection to terrorism.
Colon was arrested for credit card fraud in New Jersey, but was allowed to make bail - and then fled the area. He is described as Hispanic white male, 6'0" tall and about 180 lbs. - Colon Jr. has numerous tattoos on his body, including stars on his neck.
He is being charged with credit card fraud; aggravated identity theft; and conspiracy to commit credit card fraud.
The FBI says that Colon should be considered armed and dangerous.
