Father To Be Charged In Abuse Case Involving 6-Month-Old
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - A six-month old baby is in critical condition at U of M Hospital in what police say is a case of child abuse.
Sergeant Geoff Fox with the Washtenew County Sheriff's office says the baby was at home with his biological father in Ypsilanti Township when he was injured and taken to the hospital.
"The injuries to his head are consistent with blunt force trauma, through the investigation, they determined that the only person at home during that time, where the child sustained the injuries, was the biological father," said Sgt. Fox.
"... there were no other adults in the house when this occurred. Once we made contact with the father - obtained some information and then the statement from him - he was taken into custody," Fox said.
The 38-year-old father, a Ypsilanti Township resident, has been arrested and is expected to be arraigned Tuesday.
